도시락 [Lunch Box]

 Finishing up on course registration. Got all the classes I needed to graduate on time! What a gamble I took.

 Went to have lunch with Rochelle at the Student Union. It's not expensive. Culture shock.

 This was just 2,500 won (less than $2.50!)

 And for dinner later, I was drawn in again to the 도시락 (lunch box) place by my dorm. I'm really liking these 도시락s (lunch boxes) today.

고기 만두 [meat dumplings]

From: March 4, 2015 Wednesday 

The first day of add/drop. Submitted my form for the Korean class I definitely wanted to take in English. Had to go to Baekyang Hall, where the Office of International Affairs is to submit the course approval form. 

 I found it hilarious that these poles have speakers attached to them, and they're randomly blasting music! 

Checked out that 도시락 (lunch box) place connected to my dorm. It's 돈까스 (fried pork cutlet). One of my favs. Also comes with 반찬 (side dishes). 

 After class, walking with the roommate to 신촌 (Shinchon).

 Stopped by Artbox. They sell cute stationary / miscellaneous items as seen below.

 Went to Daiso to get some dorm necessities. 

 It was so cold outside. As soon as we entered the restaurant (ok, I admit it was a steamed dumpling place, but still!), my glasses frosted over. 

 Our 고기만두 (meat dumplings)! Can finally share a meat dish with someone. 

 My 떡볶이 (dukkbokki). 

 Roommate got 라면.

Then we went to the grocery store. It's called Grand Mart I think, and it's connected to the 신촌 지하철 (Shinchon Subway Station).

 Korea's produce is expensive.

 On our way back to the dorms. There's a Kakaotalk pop-up store in the subway station, in the area connecting to UPLEX. It was so cold that we walked through the underground as much as possible.

  The goods I bought from Daiso (similar to a dollar store, but super nice). I needed clothes organizers (these are so awesome), a clean cover for my chair, and bathroom slippers! Also, a stapler was needed.

 It was like a choco-pie! 

 I went crazy normal on the snacks.

수업 [Class]

From: March 3, 2015 Tuesday 

Today is also a largely administrative day. Got another Professor's signature for the English version of the other Korean class I was enrolled in. 

In case I didn't get into those two English version courses, I went to the Korean versions today. I really enjoyed one of them. The Professor seems very personable and accommodating! His lectures powerpoints are all in English, but he delivers the lecture in Korean. Very interesting.

The second... hm, I suppose he gave an intro lecture today so it was mostly off-topic and more relate-able to business / econ majors as a whole. But everything is in Korean, so I don't think I will do well in this one. Glad I got into the English version.

 Crazy Brown, a cafe?

 Today, I opted for a burrito from Burger n Shake. This is because Sheena kept talking about how she's going to eat Chipotle immediately upon arriving to the U.S. 

I found it! It's the milk tea I really enjoy from the days in 포항 (Pohang)!

 Also discovered that there's a food place in the basement of DaeWoo Hall (the business school). There's a convenience store, mini-restaurant, mini-cafe to get drinks. 참치김밥 is only 2000 won! Actually the price is similar to the Student Union food, but this is so much more convenient for me.

I love that in Korean universities, they don't really try to rip you off like the American ones. If anything, the price seems to be cheaper than what you would find in normal restaurants. Nice.

학교 첫날 [First Day of School]

Today is the first day of school :) , and also the day Sheena leaves :(

 We went to 딸기골 to have 김치찌개 (Kimchee Stew)

 My roommate, Rochelle, joined us for Sheena's bye-bye lunch! 

 We went around the corner to get 팥빙수 (Patbingsu), Sheena's fav dessert here.

 Here it is. 녹차빙수 (Green tea bingsoo). It's covered in red beans, and has rice cake on top.

Then, we went across the street to where the Airport Bus is. It's near 이대부중 (the back entrance to Ehwa Univeristy).

Aw so sad. She's gone...I'm in Korea alone ㅠㅠ. 

But now I can focus on getting my school stuff ready. 

Went back to my dorm, and then proceeded to go to the library to figure out my internet issues. I downloaded the driver for the USB-LAN adapter I bought from 용산 (Yongsan) from the help desk at the library (my laptop doesn't have a CD slot, so I had to get the driver from the USB they had). Then went to another building to get my WIFI to be able to work. It just seems like my computer is not compatible with Yonsei. Jeez. I'm happy I got a professor's signature for a class I needed to take to graduate! I was signed up for the Korean version of the course previously, but would much rather take the English version.
