광장시장 [Gwangjang Market]

From: March 7, 2015 Saturday

Mmm had that choco-pie like thing I bought from the grocery store bakery.

Went out with Rochelle and a group of her Hong Kong friends (and 1 Chinese) to visit 광장시장 (Gwangjang Market) and 인사동 (Insadong). Pit stop as we're walking to the subway station in Shinchon for Rochelle's Chinese friend. Apparently, this is a very famous snack to have in Hong Kong.
First stop is  광장시장 (Gwangjang Market). They have miscellaneous items, foods here!

Selling 전 (pancake). We bought one, but ate it later.

Here it is. So good, but it's better to have it right away after you get it. We waited til we finished the other food we got from the Market (below).

Stopped by one of the street vendors for food. We so hungry.

Saw 순대 (blood sausage), and 족발 (Pig feet) I think?

We got 떡볶이 (spicy rice cake) and 김밥 (kimbap).

And 족발 (Pig feet). The HK people seemed to be really excited about it, so I gave it a try. Didn't like it...it tasted like I was eating fat. That was probably what it was.

Got 녹차호떡 (Green tea hoddeok) for dessert! Yum. Crunchy on the outside, chewy inside, and deliciously sweet honey-nutty like.

Saw some other Chinese tourists eating live octopus. They let people from my group try.

Time for food stall #2!

 김치 (kimchee). Self-explanatory.

We got 비빔밥 (bibimbap). Was so good.

Winnie got 국수 (fish noodles)

Were walking by, and a guy stops Rochelle to give her these lucky cards! On the other side there was some words of wisdom. How nice.

Looks delicious. 간장게장 (soy-sauce crabs)

These are accessories to put on 한복 (hanbok), the Korean-traditional dress.

Saw 청계천 (Chungyechun stream) right after exiting the market.

Somehow ended up walking to Dongdaemun Cultural + History Center. Went into Redeye and this one featured a bunch of artists who handcraft accessories.

Couldn't resist...

Went to 인사동 (Insadong) to find this famous green tea cafe called O Sulloc.

Green tea overload. Can't tell now, but that ice cream was dunked in green tea sauce very soon after this photo was taken.

Went to 쌈지길 (Ssamzigil) after. They have tons of creative, unique boutiques.

There's a store called 'Indigo Story' that I absolutely love for their beautifully illustrated books (they have pictures throughout the book). I've come here before with Sheena and picked up "The Little Prince" and "Anne of Green Gables." Both are in Korean, and I plan on reading them next to the English version!

There's an English version for a few of the books!

This rose sculpture is so tall. Look at how many staircases that is!!!

 Cute artwork everywhere.

Came back home to the oranges I ordered from gmarket!!! I was really craving some fruit. So naturally, I ordered 6kg of them...

(I swear this is not weird- I've heard of many exchange students doing this. Btw. They also want vegetables.)

 One box opened.

주먹밥 [Rice ball]

From: March 6, 2015 Friday

Checking out Yonsei's campus stationary store at the Student Union. They have these cool book holders.

I spy Moomin stuff.

Sheena really wanted something Moomin. Reminds me of the Kim Soohyun one she got. (LOL. What a fan girl.)

Cute post-its inside.

Got some mo of that 참치김밥 (Tuna Kimbab).

Also tried the 주먹밥 (Rice ball) from the도시락 (lunch box) place connected to my dorms).

Met up Winston and his friend at night in 신촌! We had these quail eggs as 반찬 (side-dish).

Some sort of alcohol I forgot the name of, but it was good. Similar to 막껄리 (Makgeolli).

Had 감자전 (potato pancake) with it.

The walls are getting filled with bottle caps.

Went to 2차 (second round drinking) at another bar. Of course, you order 안주 (food to eat while drinking). I forgot to take a picture of the beers we got. D'oh.Winston's friend had to go back, because she goes to 서강대 (Seogang Uni), and it has a curfew for the dorms. She had to get back by 1am. Sucks... Thank goodness SK Global doesn't have that.

3차 at the convenience store! Haha! Btw, you're not supposed to drink inside. So (I think) you can get it and drink right outside. Winston's 2 other friends joined here. One was from UMD!!! Wow what a small world.

Then they wanted to dance. Soooo... we went to Bar Fly. LOL. Omg... last time I was here, it was for Yonsei Global orientation. It's pretty much like an American club. Although today was a lot more fun than last time.

Walk back~~ It takes a solid 20 minutes.

There are a bunch of news trucks parked outside Severance Hospital. I think it's because of the American Ambassador that had been injured?
