블루원 [Blue One Water Park]

From Friday July 13, 2012

Went to Blue One Water park today in GyeongJu - which is about 30 to 40 minutes from POSTECH. We met at 9am at the International Students Office and then took a chartered bus from there. Surprisingly enough, there weren't many people that came today. Pretty much me, Ling, Andy, Michael, Estella and two of her partners, and the six or so people from France. The bus was more than half empty. Also, we were worried that it was going to rain today because the weather was very cloudy. BUT we were lucky and it didn't! Excellent!

We got there, took off our shoes at the first locker, got a "Blue Coin" (looked like a watch almost) that we could charge with money if we wanted to buy food and use to open up our lockers, opened up second locker to put my backpack in, changed (was like a mini jimjilbang / sauna), Ling was shocked by the nakedness, went out of the locker room to see the inside of the waterpark, set a meeting time with Estella and others for 4 45pm, and proceeded to go out to the outdoor water park.

Sigh. So...why is everybody wearing life jackets? Hm, maybe because it's because they are REQUIRED for the outdoor water park. omg.. Even for the slides like "Tornado" (the same ride at Sixflags America), we still needed to wear the life jacket and in the lazy river where we have little donut tubes anyway to float on. They are very strict here. Also, usually people back in Maryland would lay on top of the tube in the lazy river, but no, not at Blue One. Andy tried to lay on top of it and was promptly whistled at by the multiple life guards to get the hell off and get inside the tube. The lazy river was still fun because of the waves though. Andy lost his "Blue Coin" though so he and Ling went inside to figure out if he could still get his stuff. Which he could and just moved his stuff to another locker - for no fee either! Wow. Korea so nice.

Then went on a ride that looked like a killer skateboarding platform, found Ling and Andy again, went inside to eat lunch (donkatsu), went to the hot water baths, then decided to try out the wave pool. Ling came in for a bit, but she came in where it was the worst and the waves actually hurt... so she went back out and took a nap.

Thanks to the life jacket that I was wearing, I could actually go deeper into the wave pool! Never have I ever been that deep before... we got to the point where we weren't allowed to go any deeper. Surprisingly enough, the waves deeper in (where they originated) just brought everyone up with them so it was painless! Had so much fun in the wave pool. Then went on the indoor and outdoor slides when they made everyone get out to check if any people were hurt, and also checked up on Ling (asleep). Weird that some life guards from the slides were sorta flirting ? Interesting... ok, back to the wave pool. Waves were 3x as big as before. More fun!!!

Met with others between 4 45 and 5, returned life jackets, and went on our way to leaving Blue One.

Got back to POSTECH by 6pm, and that's when it started raining, went to Jigok for dinner, and then had English meeting at 8pm. White Collar is getting really good.

 Blue One Water Park

so many kids... and I thought they were still in school -.-

the indoor water park. there are three indoor slides also

going outside~~ the wave pool is so fun! but I didn't take pictures because I left my phone inside at one of the sun mats (that you have to rent btw...) so it wouldn't get wet on the rides. (although some people were carrying around their cameras / phone in waterproof clear bags
